What Do You Suffer For?

What Do You Suffer For?

Scripture Reading: Colossians 1:24-2:3

“The Most Important Question of Your Life”

Mark Manson is a writer and thinker who published an article several years ago on his website entitled, “The Most Important Question of Your Life.”  In the article, he details some of the hard work it takes to reaching goals many have in life. The point of the article is that, while most have high hopes for success in life, many aren’t willing to put in the hard work to achieving those goals.  The long hours at work, the sleepless nights finishing a project, the weekends spent at marriage retreats—whatever a person’s goal may be, there is often a level of sacrifice needed that not all are willing to offer up. For Manson, the most important question is asking yourself, “What am I willing to sacrifice to achieve my goals?”

How could we spin this into a Christian perspective?  I think there are some parallels here. Obviously, Manson is writing from a different worldview than you or I may be coming from.  But, the similarities are striking. What is most important in life, and why? And, how hard are you willing to work for it? Join us this morning as we continue through Paul’s letter to the Colossians in our sermon entitled, “What Do You Suffer For?”
