God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle...Really?

God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle...Really?

Series: How Do I Deal With Temptation

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthins 10:6-14

“God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle…”

Really?

At one time or another, most of us have either heard or used that phrase.  It may be in a funeral home beginning our journey through grief, or a kitchen table trying to wrap our mind around what’s going on.  Either way, the saying is intended to comfort and help. However, it’s not all that accurate, or at least it leaves out a lot of other information.  While it has some biblical basis as we’ll see this morning, there are plenty of times you and I have felt overwhelmed by a tragedy, our own sin and its consequences, or any other number of things.  Feeling overwhelmed by tragedy or temptation has often led people to feel guilty… “If God won’t give me more than I can handle, why do I feel like I can’t handle it?”

As we close out our series on dealing with temptation, let’s take a look at this verse and what it really says on dealing with temptation and tragedy.
