"No Other Gods" - 29m:0s

Series: More Than Rules: 10 Commandments for a 21st Century

Scripture Reading: Exodus 20:3-6

Every year, Out Church takes a group to Winterfest, a youth rally in Gatlinburg, TN.  There's a song sung ung there every year that I've really come to love. It's called "No Other Gods" and the lyrics go like this;

The God of the heavens
The Ancient of Days
The God of our fathers,
And God of my praise.
The Alpha, Omega,
Beginning and End,
Forever and ever,
Your Kingdom will stand.
We come to bow before you now. We come to lay our lives down.
We will have no other gods before You. Nothing on earth will compete for Your throne.
You are the sovereign l Am, and You reign in our hearts alone.
A We will exalt You on high forever, King of all kings and the Lord of all lords.
We will have no other gods before You.
Our Maker, Creator, .
Before time began,
Messiah and Savior,
Redeemer and Friend.
Our Rock of Salvation
So faithful and true.
We give all the glory,
And honor to You.
(Repeat Chorus)

It’ s a great song-it sounds beautiful and the words are so meaningful. I don't know about you, but at the end of my time here on earth, I want to be able to look at God square in the eye (does God even have eyes??) and tell Him I didn't serve anyone or aby thing else.  My life was given solely to Him. The Israelites struggled with idolatry their whole existence as a nation.  It was eventually what led to their downfall. This morning we'll look at why God desires so much to have us worship Him alone. Join us!
