Finding Your Gift
Series: Privileged To ServeWhat is Your Gift?
Last time I was with you, we learned about how everyone has a gift, God gave us a gift to use for others, and it’s important that we use that gift because everyone has a gift someone else needs.
This morning, we’ll learn how to determine your spiritual gift. Spiritual gifts are not discussed much in our fellowship. We have largely been a knowledge-based movement, so anything that looks like emotionally driven or touchy-feely gets pushed to the side. I’m not sure that has always been a good thing—especially when it comes to our gifts. We need to know what God has given us to use for the Kingdom! I Peter 4:10-11 says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ…” God has given everyone a gift, and He is glorified when we use them to serve one another.
This week and next as we begin discovering each other’s gifts, begin praying and asking God 1) to help you discover your gift, and 2) to help you find out how to use it for His glory in the church. My prayer is that through this series and some homework (yes, I said homework!) we can help get the wheels moving for us to discover how we can be used in the church for better service and ministry.
