Who Is Your Hero?
A lot can be achieved if everyone does a little. The Military, Veteran, and First responder Salute was a big success. The outreach to the community was great. The building was full of visitors and community guests. Justin Friday opened the service with a great clip on Hero’s that he created himself. God has given Justin a great talent and we thank Justin for a job well done.
The Sr. Youth walking the flag down and everyone saying the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Jared Rose offering a prayer and Lost-N-Found bringing beautiful music with the star- spangled banner and what about brother Jason Gibson who shared his story of Military service time and how God and church family and prayer brought him thru some of the darkest times of his life. The evening continued as Lost-N-Found reminded us of how beautiful America is and Brett Bohl inspired and encouraged the veterans for their service to God and Country.
It was a moment that showed great respect to God and the American Flag as SOLSD Superintendent Jeffery Greenley read the 13 folds of the American flag while Commander Bob Welsh made a fold after each statement. We had a time to thank our WWII vets along with everyone else. When the children came marching in and sang “This Land is Your Land” the hope and prayer that the future of Gods church and country is in their little hands was encouraging to all of us. God will use these little ones to do great things in His kingdom. Let us as parents & grandparents continue to teach Gods Word to teens and always have them respect authority.
As we closed Lost-N-Found spoke of the two tombs. One for the soldier and the open tomb of Jesus Christ. Lester Jones closed out with prayer and the teen Lock-In started for the night. The teens sang songs to God, prayed to God, fellowshipped with games, camp fires, skits, movies, pizza and yes the Great American opossum run.
It takes a lot of people and a lot of time and preparation to provide a spiritual moment with family & friends. God was honored and God's name was lifted up and may all glory and praise be given to the God who make all this possible.
To the church family you are AWESOME!
God is so good to us. Let’s continue to study his Word, pray to Him and encourage others to come to Christ and be baptized.
